Kutani overglaze enamel techniques have developed in several different styles. Kutani gosai (five-coloured) is one of the traditional styles of overglaze painting decoration, whose beautiful glossy colours have been attracting our interest for a long time. Using gosai-de colours, Shibata Yukika creates Kutani ware on which botanical designs inspired by wild nature are painted. Ayatakado interviews Shibata Yukika to ask her how she hewed her way to be a ceramicist and what inspires her to depict naturalistic expressions in her works.
