These are a pair of porcelain dolls painted using sometsuke (blue and white ⁄ underglaze blue) technique.
The dolls are made by slip casting.
The dolls are placed on a ceramic plate. They are in kimonos on which floral scroll patterns are painted.
Hina dolls are displayed on the day of the seasonal festival for celebrating healthy growth of girls. They represent the emperor and empress, or prince and princess, in the costume from medieval times Japan.
